Camp Fantastic And Special Love Breakfast Sponsorship

During the summer, Camp Fantastic & Special Love, holds Camp for different groups of kids at the Front Royal 4-H Center. During those weeks that they hold their Camp, one weekend, the kids come alone, another weekend, they bring their siblings and the third, their best friends.  The Front Royal Kiwanis Club usually sponsors breakfast the weekend when the kids bring their best friends. We usually take breakfast items for all of the kids and their friends on Saturday morning about 9 a.m. The Kiwanis Club has done this for several years now. We usually feed about 50 kids.  Several of our Kiwanians volunteer to go and help by serving food and visiting with the kids. During 2004, on Sunday, the group had leftovers, and Ms. Linda Keen with the Front Royal Cardinals Valley League Baseball Team, arranged for some of the Cardinal Team Players to go up and visit with the kids also.

Adopt-A-Highway
The Adopt-A-Highway program is a Virginia DOT program to help make your community a cleaner place in which to live. The Kiwanis and the Key Club work to maintain about a 3/4 mile stretch from the Park and Ride area along the 340/522 corridor to near Shenandoah Ford on both the North and South bound lanes.  We have at least 2 to 3 meetings annually that we bag trash. We’d also like to thank McDonalds’ and the Nerangis Enterprises for sponsoring free and discounted meals while we work on cleaning the area along the highway.

RED Cross Blood Drive
Every year for the last several, we have been the sponsor of the American Red Cross Blood Drive which is usually held at the American Legion, located on 8th and Virginia Avenue in Front Royal. The Front Royal Kiwanis and Key Clubs provide Staffing and Food, while the American Legion provides a large and comfortable working area for the Red Cross and the volunteers. We greatly appreciate the fact that the Legion and other local businesses have helped defer the cost of this important event for the Red Cross. Two Blood Drives are normally held each year in either late Spring and early Summer or early Fall, depending on the needs of the Red Cross.

Warren County Health Coalition Mentoring Program - Across The Ages
The Front Royal Kiwanis Club participates in the Warren County Community Health Coalitions “Youth Mentoring Program - Across Ages” which is a school and community based mentoring program targeting Middle, Junior and High School Youth.  The overall goals of the project are to promote the healthy growth and development of vulnerable youth and prevent or reduce their involvement in substance use/abuse and other risky behavior. To find out more on this fantastic program, go to the “Kiwanis Links” page and “Warren County Community Health Coalition” link.

PIE Playground Project
PIE (Parent-Infant Education) is an early intervention program for families of infants and toddlers from birth through age two who have actual, suspected, or potentially handicapping conditions or developmental delays. Services are provided to minimize the detrimental effects of a handicapping condition on children. Parents are team members in all phases of the PIE program and actively participate in evaluations, program planning, and teaching children.

The Capitol District Division 19 Kiwanis Clubs sponsored the Playground for the Northwest Community Services located in Front Royal more...

Salvation Army Projects
Each year The Front Royal Kiwanis Club assists the Salvation Army with their red kettle bell ringing fund-drive. The kick off is usually in the first weeks of November and lasts through the holiday season.

Kids Voting In Conjunction With The Local Front Royal Virginia Chamber Of Commerce
Kids Voting is a national non-profit, non-partisan organization that teaches students about democracy and the importance of individual political participation. The program combines dynamic classroom civics activities with an authentic voting experience that replicates the official process. The program provides a wonderful opportunity for local Kiwanis Club members to work with the Kids Voting organization and schools to teach children about our democratic process and the freedom we have in this country to select national, state and local leaders. Children come to the polls with their parents. In many situations, children who vote receive class credit. It's exciting to see the enthusiasm among the children to experience the opportunity to vote.

RED Cross Disaster Training
In hope of better preparing the community for disaster, The Front Royal Kiwanis Club sponsored a disaster training seminar that was open to the public. The Red Cross gives this health and safety training to the public and provides emergency social services to U.S. military members and their families. In the wake of an earthquake, tornado, flood, fire, hurricane or other disaster, it provides relief services to communities across the country. The Red Cross is America¹s most trusted charity, and it needs the
support of compassionate Americans to succeed.

Marine Corps Toys For Tots Foundation
The Front Royal Kiwanis and Key Clubs help to support the objectives of Toys for Tots. Some of those objectives are to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable natural resources - our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future.
